Ghost by Marley Poff

What happens when a person dies? Do they go to Heaven, or Hell? Or do they just wake up somewhere that seems too familiar to be real? Maybe they were just hallucinating this whole time, and death just makes them snap out of it? Or maybe we start over as something else. But what if someone becomes a ghost? Someone who couldn’t make it to Heaven, nor Hell? Someone too self-aware for their own good? Someone who never did good nor bad, but is punished for both?

Well, first, they probably wouldn’t believe it. They would spend days and days just wondering why they were always ignored. Next, they can’t accept it. No one likes always being a nonentity. Something you can’t even see. Something invisible. At some point, they would accept their fate, letting everyone know they exist whether anyone likes it or not. For years, and years, and years, until there’s no one left to torment. So they finally settle down, deep inside the core of the earth, begging for the Gods to take them back.
